POSITION TITLE: Occupational Therapist 

DEPARTMENT: Special Education

SUPERVISOR: Director of Special Services

 

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES: Participates on the IEP team as a related service provider for eligible students in special education to determine individualized annual goals, as well as services, modifications, accommodations, and support for student success in the school setting. 

 

QUALIFICATIONS (to include but not limited to):

  • Master’s Degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited college or university
  • Licensure as an Occupational Therapist in the state of Oklahoma
  • Knowledge of special education process and laws associated with IDEA
  • Experience working with multi-disciplinary teams
  • Ability to work independently and in cooperation with others
  • Excellent organizational skills, oral and written skills, communication skills, and time management
  • Strong interpersonal skills in working with diverse populations
  • Flexibility in assigned work hours

 

RESPONSIBILITIES (to include but not limited to):

  • Build strong relationships with students, families, colleagues
  • Completes assessment of motor and sensorimotor skill development with a focus on educational functioning
  • Collaborates/consults with school staff, parents and outside agencies to assure issues regarding motor and sensorimotor skill development are appropriately addressed in the school setting
  • Provides training to staff to carry over therapy goals in the school setting
  • Maintains equipment and materials for therapy
  • Formulates OT policies and procedures
  • Accommodate and support students to succeed in the school setting
  • Plan and provide individual and group therapy aligned to motor and sensorimotor therapy services
  • Complete Medicaid billing requirements
  • Document student performance during sessions
  • Comply with local, state, and federal guidelines
  • Maintains consistent and punctual attendance
  • Assigns and supervises caseload and responsibilities of the Sapulpa COTA
  • Ability to drive to various school sites in order to provide occupational therapy services
  • Perform other tasks, duties, or services assigned by supervisor or administrator

  • Frequent, in-district travel between district sites
  • Some exposure to student behavior may be physical or confrontational
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to lift, sit, stand, walk and climb stairs
